AMVs

Just for fun, here's a collection of my favorite AMVs from Sakura Con this year. There were some good ones. ^_^

There was an Utena video! Yay! It didn't win anything, but I appreciated the story telling and that someone is still thinking of Utena. It's a drama video focusing on Miki and Kozue's relationship.

Maybe it's because I never watched or was into transformers when I was a kid but I can't understand why everyone is so into that video. XD

I thought it was kinda long and boring. O_o

The Misa and p0wnage ones were the best. XD

You should post some of the trailer ones if you can find 'em. :D

lol I don't know.. I can't explain why I like the Transformers video. XD I didn't even watch Transformers. I think I just love the song and was enticed with the flashy editing. hehe

Yah, I really liked the misa and p0wnage ones too. ^^

I think I can find the trailer ones. I'll have to make another AMV post later.

And as someone who both watched AND was into transformers, I agree with the above. Then again, I admit to having a bias against all things related to the movie the footage is from. (I like to curl up into the fetal position and pretend that the whole thing never happened.)

I'm glad people are still making Utena videos, though! I was actually thinking about that series earlier this week, and was wondering if "kids these days" still watched/liked it.

And then I felt old. :(

lol I don't know why I liked the video. But I guess the creator did not want to forget the movie. XD

Yeah, I was excited to see the Utena video! I don't see a whole lot of Utena cosplayers or much Utena stuff anymore, but ever so often it still pops up. Someday I will get the black rose Wakaba duelist costume done I've been wanting to do for years. That series will always hold a special place in my heart. *wistful sigh*

Haha Yes, I feel old too. Especially at cons with all the youngsters around. XD It's hard to believe Utena's over 10 yrs old now. Augh.

Hi there! First of all, I really hope I don't seem stalker-y and weird. XD;; Second, if my Google-fu is strong today, you've cosplayed pirate!Albert de Morcerf in the past, right? I just have a few questions to ask about it, if you don't mind. :D

lol Wow! Your Google-fu is strong. XD Yes, I did the pirate Albert cosplay for last year's Sakura Con. I also wore it at AX last year. I don't mind questions at all. What would you like to know?

A friend of mine asked me to make the same costume for her, but I'm stumped as far as finding a good fabric pattern for the main part of the coat. D: Did you somehow add the pattern on your coat yourself or something?

Any help would be much appreciated :D

Ah yes, that was the most challenging part for me! I searched and searched and I could not find very good matches for the fabrics from Gankutsuou. Sometimes I'd get lucky - like I found a pretty good match for the pants in a sheer home décor fabric that I layered over white cotton. But the only way I figured out to do the coat was hand painting the whole pattern. I made some stencils and bought letter stencils to help. Although I found the edges didn't come out smooth with the stencils, so I had to go back and refine them free hand. I used the "lumiere" line of fabric paints by Jacquard. I think I ordered some online, but I've seen them in plenty of fabric stores too. They have kind of a neat metallic sheen to them and go on smoothly. I didn't copy all the shapes in the pattern of the coat because it was hard to see all the details from pictures. So I just made stencils of a couple shapes and painted them onto red fabric with a little brighter shade of red. The base fabric I used was kind of a black red. After that dried I ( ... )
