10 Most Revolting TV Tropes

May 24, 2011 02:01

Not all Tropes are bad. A writer, actor, or anyone involved in the production of a piece of media who uses tropes are incapable of original thought. In fact, for my next week's LJ entry, I will gush over my 10 favorite ones. But there are some tropes that are so poorly used, or are just too horrible to exist. Bad tropes aren't limited to the people ( Read more... )

SO MUCH RAAAGE.

It'll be interesting to hear people's reactions when I post my favorite tropes because I'm sure that there will be a few that people will disagree on.

Wow, you found a productive use of TvTropes! (now hopefully I won't get lost in the links you had to the tropes. I only clicked one, I will be safe... right? right?)

This list is awesome! Thanks for making it. I'll be looking forward to your post about your favorites! (though I'll probably be in Chile when you post it)

Thank you! I'm excited to post my list on my favorites, but I hope that I don't spend so much time writing it!

And have lots of fun in Chile!

Makeovers a definitely a trope which is far too commonly misused. Densha Otoko is a movie I can think of where a makeover was handled well, but when it's like they did in the Breakfast Club and the only change to her appearance was switching to a more mainstream style? :/

The good thing about Het is Ew is that most of the people who use it are simply too young and inexperienced to know better and are likely to grow out of it.

In Medias Res has never really bothered me much. Inaction sequences are kind of annoying, but in that I can read long shounen series and thoroughly enjoy them, it probably means that they don't bother me too much.

Densha Otoko did a nice job with the main character's makeover because it wasn't the main focus of the movie.

That's very true about Het is Ew. Most of these people will realize that "Wow! I'm kind of a prick!" once they hit the later years in high school or graduate.

Long action scenes certainly didn't stop me from reading or watching some manga or anime, but after seeing them pop up over and over again, I usually won't read/watch a shonen series unless I hear that it's excellent.
