I loved MTM as Laura Petrie in The Dick Van Dyke Show. "Oooh, Rob!" :)
Her fondness for Capri pants made them fashionable, as well as allowing women to wear pants around the house more often. Women used to clean house in what they called housedresses! Must have been murder scrubbing the floors. But whereas women had always worn pants for gardening chores and hiking and on vacation, Laura Petrie inspired them to start wearing them around the house more 'just because'. :)
She and Dick Van Dyke as Rob Petrie were considered Jack/Jackie Kennedy stand-ins as they looked similar (which the show acknowledged on more than one occasion) and were the epitome of early '60s sophistication and elegance. Glamour in the suburbs! ;)
