Miso Soup & musing on fandom

Apr 15, 2009 18:32

After the recent Tegomass fanmeet I thought I should buy the "Miso Soup" single as well, since I already have the other two singles by this unit. Then I discovered that the Swedish edition of the single is dirt cheap (25 SEK! = ~2,5€ = ~2$) at a Sweden-based webstore, so I really had to buy it :D. Plus another copy for one of my US friends ( Read more... )

I'm pretty sure that if I ever stopped fangirling, I wouldn't be me anymore. I would have to change into a completely different person. I mean, I've always been a fan of something. Musicians, authors (or certain books), TV shows, movies, sports... whatever. It's in my basic nature to be passionate about things I like, and I'm sure some people think I should grow up already, but hell no! Fandom is a way of life. :)

That is so true. For as long as I can remember, I've always been a fan of something. It's just written in my personality and I can't or even want to change that.

Fandom = ♥ :)

So, I guess for me, at least, fandom is a way of life.

Yup, yup, yup ... It IS part of popular culture, so why not. I remember my great-grandmother was very passionate about Maria Callas, she was what we would consider a fan even though she only said she was an admirer. Different lingo, same thing. I'm proud of being a fan even after I've grown up. ♥

Yes, there have always been fans, even though might not have been called that in the past. The term is fairly new, after all.

I'm actually interested in checking out some academic fandom studies. Since I find the concept of fandom and the fandom mentality really interesting in a meta/acedemic study level as well.

I really do wish I can be a fan of Something always. Nothing gives you bigger joys from such small things :D I just hope that I had the kind of fan personality that would stick with Something specific. Unfortunately I shift really much from thing to thing and then go back and around the ones that are to stay. Sorry not making any sense ^^; But there is nothing to be ashamed of about being a fan!

You don't really need to stick to something specific. The feeling of being a fan (of something) is just as true whether you are a long-time or a short-time fan of something :).
