Fair's fair [for Aramis]

Ali disliked owing people things. It weighed heavily on her mind that she owed Aramis a proper thank-you for taking her to see his Paris; in her heart, she knew that date she set him up on with Samus didn't count. And she was worried about him. He hadn't been in a good way last time she saw him, and he'd been absent a while now ( Read more... )

*Aramis is not difficult to find. How difficult can it be to find a man wearing a feathery hat and carrying a sword? Oh, fine. This is the Nexus. He might as well be wearing a grey tracksuit.

The Nexus is full of little marvels for a good-looking, intelligent and above all curious musketeer. He'd been particularly taken with the proliferation of shops and little street cafes where the waitresses smiled and people sat and gossiped about the most fascinating (if often incomprehensible) things.

It's in one such establishment he may be found today, making occasional inroads into a cinnamon danish pastry, but mostly engaged in flirting with the waitress and trying to listen unobtrusively to the conversations going on around him...*

Ali, when she finds him, delays in joining him long enough for the waitress to be away again. When the girl goes to tend some duty, Ali steps up to Aramis' side, nudging his arm with her hip before sliding into a chair. "So this is where you've been hiding."

With him, she speaks French. She knows how nice it can be to hear one's native language in a strange place.

*He looks round at the nudge, and his face lights up with a sunny smile as soon as he sees who it is.*

Ah, but I have not been hiding, upon my honour!

"You haven't been visiting me," she points out. "I swear, if you keep this sort of thing up, I'm going to think I'm not pretty anymore."

She's joking. Mostly.

"But I forgive you. I know how the waitresses would languish and die without your kind attentions."
