Ali had tried to sleep. She'd been trying to sleep since Mortimer left. She didn't know how Sasha managed it, how she could lay there looking so calm and peaceful, like nothing was wrong. The Jacks are, in fact, only slightly less quiet sleepers than the company they used to unfortunately keep.
...Not quite as heavy, though.
It takes a little while for the new sounds/weight/presence/etc. to muzzily register and Jack's eyelids to slowly blink themselves apart.
...Until then, he just snuggles back a bit.

Ali makes a happy sound at the snuggling-back, shifting a bit and curling up so she's fitted up as close as she can manage to him, tugging one of his arms around her. When his eyes open, she gives him a sad but hopeful look. "Please let me stay?"

When her presence first registers consciously, there's just another blink and a quiet but profoundly confused "Ali?"

But at her request, he has no other answer than "Of course."

"Thank you." Confusion can be cleared up in the morning. For now, there's a kiss on his cheek and more snuggling as she gets comfortable. "Go back to sleep."
