My creative writing class was canceled today and I ended up talking with a classmate for over an hour. I think I scared her away. I kept trying to draw her into doing some talking, and she kept being shy and not really talking and leaving these awkward silences. So I abandoned all and started going on about Women in Refrigerators, and some of the ( Read more... )

I guess some people are just shy. But yeah I can't imagine not wanting to talk enthusiastically about comics! :)

Yeah, that last one kinda threw me off. Just... isn't that what comic books geeks do? You immediately ascertain Marvel or DC, Superman or Batman, etc.

IDK, maybe she just wasn't feeling like socializing.

Dear, if you ever want to gab about comics I'm so there! I really need to chat with fandom people more often. In fandom I'm not weird for thinking vastly thinky thoughts about things like how many hours of sleep a Bat would call 'a good night's sleep'.

I'm sadly one of those people that reads wikipedia to understand the back story for DCU and Marvel comics. Wiki really helps because I haven't read all the comics for X-Men, DCU, Superman, or Iron Man. I think I got more into it because of fan fiction though and the movies.

But yes! I also have a preference for Marvel over DCU, but I think it's because I love how the new movies coming out are tied together. I also love the teams and almost everyone having powers of some sort.

But, um yeah it's just weird for people who have read some of the comics or at least watched the movies! not have an opinion.

Yeah, I'm with you on the wiki articles since I don't have the money to keep up with comics. I'm a DC girl because I adore Batman and all things Gotham, and I also like the Justice League cartoons because you get that teamwork going on, but each hero has his or her own life and quest. I mean, I like the X-Men (Rogue is my girl!), but only a few of them have a hero life outside of the team. I do like the family-ness, but then that's why I like the Bats as well.

The Marvel movies have been amazing. Continuity! Have you seen the youtube videos by itsjustsomerandomguy about Marvel and DC? They're incredibly fun.

I think she had an opinion, just... I don't know. Class again tomorrow. I'll see if she feels like talking then. She may just not be crazy about me. I'm a bit outspoken in class, may have made a poor impression.

But we can talk on teh internets! :) But yeah, I know what you mean. There needs to be a secret sign fen can use to signify to each other. Wouldn't that be awesome?

I keep hoping I'll stumble into someone on campus and we can merrily slash and flame and do all other fandom-y things, but failing that a fellow comics enthusiast would do just fine! And in either case, at least I have my flist. Speaking of, how are you?
