I think my efforts to break the work/slump cycle have paid off, and I've actually done a bit more this month than previously...

Films: Finally, we got around to watching some new films. Eight new films, to be exact. Brief reviews here and here.

Glad you liked the Mike Carey. It's really the wittiness (and unexpected intelligence) of the narrative voice that makes it feel a cut above the norm -- otherwise it's very derivative of Raymond Chandler by way of Buffy, as you say. I enjoyed the second one, and have the third still to read.
