When checking the ingredients list of a product, you may read "May contain milk ingredients." or "Made in a facility that uses egg and milk ingredients." at the end. Do you choose put the item back on the shelf or do you buy it?

I do put it back on the shelf, i just feel that i don't want to take the risk or feel personally comfortable with it.

I don't put items back on the shelf when they say that, primarily because that's just an example of a company covering its bases with people with severe food allergies. The product most likely does not have milk or egg ingredients.

often small vegan companies can't afford to have their own facility with their own equipment, so they rent from larger companies.

the equipment is cleaned. it's not like they're using dirty equipment. it's like using the same bowl that your neighbor used after it's been put through the dishwasher.

or in the "made in the same facility as..." it's like using your own bowl, but eating in your neighbor's house.

That's what I was coming to say. Not all companies can afford to buy all their own equipment so they share. If we all followed this a lot of the smaller companies would'nt get business.

I don't feel it's a big deal, chances are theres not anything in it. It's mainly for people with allergies so no one gets sued.

I cause way more harm driving my car and ending up with bugs on my grill than I ever would eating something that is made on shared equipment.

If it says, 'may contain traces of..' I put it back but if it just says 'processessed in a facility that uses...' or the thing about shared machines I keep it. Total semantics I know but that's how I do it.
