What’s the beef?

I have many people ask me why I've joined this site when I'm part of the anti-vegan community. Here is my response.

I’m new here, I’m not vegetarian, nor am I vegan. I eat meat but I don’t consume a lot of it and I prefer that my food is free range and organic.

I have many friends that are vegetarian and vegan, we get along just splendidly but there ( Read more... )

why???, opinion-anti-vegans, omnivore point of view

these sorts of communities IMO SHOULD have more carnivores in them, to not just continue the learning/living process of vegans and vegetarians, but to also educate ppl who are even less aware of where their food/clothes/products/"commodities" come from. as long as they are respectful of these lifestyle choices of course ( ... )

I'm sure that wasn't what he was thinking or trying to imply, but that was the vibe IO got from it. his lecture was more so to put me down and wasn't very informative as to why I should become vegetarian/vegan in the first place.

I already understand most of the benefits of being vegetarian. But being vegan, when it comes to food choices, is something I can't do at this moment in time for various reasons. I respect people that can eat the way they do daily, and whenever I'm with vegan friends, I'm always open to try new dishes and styles of life. I've never supported leather, fur, and needless animal testing; even at a young age. I even joined Peta at the request of my friend, Tex.

I don't get why you have to make a whole post about why you're here. As long as you're not eating meat and calling yourself a vegan, no one cares why you're here.

I've had six people form this site message me when they visited my profile after I made some comments on a few journals asking me why I joined this site as well as anti-vegan.

I'm not anti-anything really, as long as no one is gungho radical to the point of belittling the other. But I found some seemingly ignorant or biased people on both side of the fence and found it interesting that those few didn't take the time of day to see the other's viewpoint. So there are a lot of ideals I disagree with when it comes to some meat eater's ignorance on animal welfare and vise versa. I do like to try and understand where both sides are coming from though and that is why I joined.
