thank you! i'm real excited and will definitely check out that restaurant. i went to montreal a long time ago but don't remember much, so this is my first real time going. thanks again!
i ate so well there a couple of weeks ago- a very vegan-friendly place! i second the recommendation for chuchai and le commensal. we also went to an all-vegan restaurant called spirite lounge that was really neat- they only serve one dish and one soup per night and you have to eat it all (you get to pick what size meal you want) or they charge you extra and ban you from the restaurant for life. i like the concept, though reviewers have found it annoying and strange. we also went to another little cafe around mcgill, but i don't remember the name (something like lola rosa?) it was pretty good and quite vegan friendly. regardless of the name, i mention it mostly just to convey that it was quite easy to find good vegan options in montreal.
As mentioned already, I too recommend the following places: Chu Chai Aux Vivres Spirite Lounge Lola Rosa Le Commensal (buffet/by the weight resto)
And there are tonnes of very good Thai restaurants all over town. There are many Middle Eastern places who sell cheap falafel sandwiches (and other veggie options too), many of whom stay open late.
Montreal is a unique city for North America. It's a great place to walk around and just explore. Old Montreal is a must. The museums are all very interesting. Great shopping too ;-)
