It annoys the shit out of me when people decide to subject you to contagious bugs without letting you have a choice on the matter. The only time I've ever been "okay" with it was when I got mono from Andy because he had relapsed after 2 years of not having it and had NO idea.
One of the most annoying things for me is that if I get sick with something that will make me contagious, make me lose my voice, or even just keep me from going to work, I will lose money as well as respect from my clients. On multiple occasions I had clients *not* tell me someone, most of the time the child I was working with, was sick. I missed a week and a half of work because of this ear/throat infection. I also got 6 other children sick, which had the potential to kill two of my clients at the time.
Maybe one day people will realize their actions effect others.
Yeah, I'm really fortunate that I've never had an issue in the slightest with my management about this. I'm sure a large part of it has to do with the fact that I'm traveling and it's not like it's a picnic when I stay "at home" at the hotel if I'm gone, and rescheduling flights is a total pain in the ass. Not to mention expensive. But yeah, I know many people who get the evil eye when they call in sick. For me that'd be more of a reason to go give them a GREAT BIG HUG.
I had no idea they had been ill. I'm not mad, I just wish I had known, though it seems that most people did, so I think I just had my head buried in a hole and missed the memo somewhere. Oh well. Being exposed to bugs like this is a good thing- it helps strengthen the immune system. I have no idea when the last time I had strep was.
I feel bad knowing I made people uncomfortable. I agree it's best to err on the side of caution with these things, and while Wednesday should have technically been safe, it was still close. Sorry, guys.
