It's the most wonderful time of the year.

December is nice because not only do I get a two week break for the holidays but my lesson planning requires very little thought. I teach about the differences between Christmas in America and Japan and the students are very surprised to learn that we don't eat Christmas cake or KFC and everyone from children to grandparents get presents. Then we ( Read more... )

December is nice? Wow, it's the total opposite at my school. It's the busiest time of the year, last year was quite horrible as well, but this year 3 teachers are leaving and one is in the hospital, so you can't even imagine how busy we are (and will be the next few months) *sigh*

I like your costume ^-^ I'm going to wear one on Sunday at work as we'll hand out presents to some of our students ^^;

That doesn't sound like much fun. Although being busier might help me from being homesick during the holidays. It's really hard for me to not be going home for Christmas this year.

I hope you'll post some pics of you playing Santa!

It's true that you don't have time to get homesick. It will be my 3rd Christmas "without" Christmas and while having to work ON Christmas (which is the 24th in Germany btw.) *sigh*

I did last year and I will definitely do it this year again ^-^ Or rather "next year" as I might not have enough time to post them still in December (^-^)>

Christmas is on the 24th or you do most of your celebrations on Christmas Eve?
We go to church and have Christmas dinner on Christmas Eve and then we open presents and have a nice breakfast on Christmas Day (in my family at least.)

Can't wait to see them!

You are so cute in that outfit! I agree with the others--kids are so similar no matter where they come from!

Merry Christmas!!

Hahaha, thanks! And yes they are the same - rowdy, rambunctious, and adorable.

What??? No Christmas lesson? That's insane. They actually said, "we don't want you to teach about Christmas?"

I'm American and I passed on the Halloween lesson. I think it's boring after the first year of doing it.

Merry Christmas!

Love the santa suit! :-) What do the Japanese do during Xmas? I think the city has a lot of cool Xmas lights on skyscrapers...

They work. And on Christmas Eve they go out for a romantic dinner - Kentucky Fried Chicken if they can get a reservation (yeah that's right you need a reservation for KFC!) And some kids get a few presents in a stocking near their bed on Christmas morning. And they eat strawberry shortcake and call it Christmas Cake, but it's nothing like at home. It's New Years that gets all the attention here.
