December is nice because not only do I get a two week break for the holidays but my lesson planning requires very little thought. I teach about the differences between Christmas in America and Japan and the students are very surprised to learn that we don't eat Christmas cake or KFC and everyone from children to grandparents get presents. Then we ( Read more... )

I've been wearing just the hat at jhs this week and I get laughs and "kawaiiiiiii" when I go into each class. It's fun. :-)

Merry Christmas right back at you and the kids.

Sorry I have been a BAD LJ friend lately, but RL has reared it's ugly head (and I mean UGLY) these last few weeks. I don't suppose I can ship it over to you?

Love Sonia :)

It must be so nice to teach in a REAL school, where each kid sits in a desk! Are you an ALT? Are you allowed to use Japanese in the classroom? I noticed some katakana on the board.

I'm getting burned out on eikaiwa work, thinking about becoming an ALT instead...

Sorry to suddenly comment, I hope it's okay.
I'm an eikaiwa teacher as well. I've had similar thoughts about changing jobs in the past, but right now I wanna stick with eikaiwa.

I am an ALT and yes I can use Japanese, in fact they pretty much insisted that I learn. But only at elementary school. At jhs they don't like it if I use Japanese so I use it a little at lunch and with the first graders only.

I love my job. But not everyone gets to work in Tahara.

Haha, I don't know about that. It's made with felt that stretched and stretched until I had some very see through spots (which is why I'm wearing a full outfit underneath it all.)
