What is a bigbang?
There are many different types of bigbangs, all varying slightly, but generally a bigbang is a process in which authors write long fics (10,000 or 20,000 words) and artists make art/fanmixes for them.

Is there going to be a beta sign up? I could really use one, preferably someone slightly vicious and who will give me shite if I slack on grammar ect.

I just talked it over with my co-mod and we both think that's a great idea :)

We'll make a beta post a bit later on for people to volunteer their services for.

When will you be doing the beta sign up, and what qualifications are you looking for from your Betas?

This is sort of like the WIP question, but not exactly. I have a vampire verse (it's a lotrips AU) that's ongoing and the stories in it can mostly be read as standalones. Could I write 10,000 words in the existing verse, as long as it works reasonably well as a standalone?

Absolutely, as long as the story can be read as a standalone it can be a sequel or prequel to something else :D

I know it maybe a dumb question but I am new to these things...
what is Gen, Slash, and/or Het?

Gen is non romance focused stories that are based on the characters and not a romantic pairing.

Slash is a story focused on a male/male pairing, with femslash being a fic focused on a female/female pairing.

Het is a story focused on a Male/Female pairing.

All or just one of these can apply, however a person chooses to lable their story and what warnings they want to give.

I tried putting one of the banners on my journal, and all I got was hyperlinks and text. Can someone tell me how to put a banner up, and explain it as if your talking to a three year old?

The problem could be you have your journal set in rich text. When making a post on the top right side there is Rich Text and HTML, for the coding to work the entry needs to be in HTML.

As long as at the public website you can link back to the art and the challenge then thats fine.
