Oh, gosh. I'm tearing up and can barely see straight but this are not sad tears, not completely at least. I can only say thank you for giving Sam at least four years of relative domestic peace with Dean (and cows and a garden and a farm!), for letting Dean taste a strawberry again, for letting Sam see the blue sky and how the world slowly mends itself and die in a beautiful day and for let the brothers be together at the end. Because they will be together in heaven ( ... )

Thank you for this wonderful final comment! I'm so happy that the ending was satisfying to you. After all I put them through, I couldn't let it end entirely unhappily, but I also couldn't turn in a completely happy ending. It would hardly have been convincing. (Also, I knew it would end this way for ages, just the details were unclear.

Thank you for staying with us for all this time! You've been wonderful!

That's an absolut fantastic ending for this great story. You've done an amazing job. During the whole story, you'd knew how to hold the tension and make me nearly jump out of my skin.

I started this story at 10:30 last night and read straight through till 5:30 this morning because I had to know what was going to happen!

By the time I got to the first interlude I was in excruciating anxiety over what was going to happen to the boys and Cas! Really tightly crafted plot and very vivid writing!

Coming to the end of this fic is a lot like finding myself at the end of a long trying road - a sense of accomplishment, and then right there beside it, a confused, lost ‘what am I going to do now?’

The ending is stunning. It is absolutely heartwrenching, and breathtaking, and I think it broke things inside me because it hurt so so much. I have never cried so much over a book, and I mean NEVER. I just know that the world will right itself eventually, will find a way to a new normal and happy, and there still was this feeling of “they went through so much and now they’re dead and Cas is alone” - even though it probably does make me sound all of five years old. Lucky for me, I decided to read it in the evening, so there was pretty much no one around to watch me sob my eyes out and fall to pieces well into the wee hours of the morning.

(actually, that’s pretty much the reason for this review being so late - this is how long it took me to catch my breath and at least try to rein in the going-nuts-and-falling-all-over-the-place emotions ( ... )

First of all, sorry for the super late reply. I kind of lost hold of all thigs LJ for a while.

Just like you, I couldn't see Dean react any other way. Him living on without Sam until his time was up simply would not have made him happy, and the fact that he knew he'd see Sam in heaven certainly helped.

I'm glad you liked the last line. Last lines are hard, especially after so long a story. You just kind of want them to sound good, if nothing else.

I sort of imagine Castiel telling people about Sam and Dean and everything that happened, and those people tell it to other people and so on, and the stories change a little bit every time until they become myths and no one really believes anymore that that really happened, but they keep telling the stories. I think Cas would be okay with that.

Thank you for your wonderful comment!

A beautiful ending to the most epic story in SPN fandom. I love the peaceful ending of Sam and Dean, inevitable and somewhat sad but mostly happy. I do NOT like Cas on the show so it's testament to your writing genius that I like him in this story not just because he redeemed himself thousand times over, but also because he is left alone without his friends to spread the words and work of Sam to a healing world, the same world that Cas at one time knowingly and actively tried to destroy by manipulating Dean into distrusting and doubting his brother. Cas paid for his actions and accepted the consequences and you allowed me to forgive him.

Of course Dean will find Sam again in heaven, he always does. Dean has fought earth, hell, and heaven to have Sam back. He wouldn't be Dean otherwise.

Thank you for your comment! I'm happy you like Cas in this fic. I'm not always happy with him in canon myself.
