Looks gorgeous. Glad you got out and about. The Boohster was asking about you today - he wanted to call. Interesting day...the teen energy is certainly taking on a new form for both brothers. Had a little explosion from the older one. He left the house to take the bus home at one point and his mother had to chase after him to bring him back. Later, we took the boys (without their Mom) shopping. My favorite thing to do, especially this time of year (he said with every bit of sarcasm in his body).

Trees are nice. Nature is nice. Fred Meyer, not so nice. You won in outings, although I did get a new cap for my bald head and some toothpaste.

Head protection and toothpaste are important things. Shopping this time of year sucks though. If the weather is ok tomorrow I may get out and try one of the other local trails down here to see what I can find.

Otherwise I've just been sitting around the house bored. I have been catching up on my Ironweed films though and I have to say I haven't been disappointed yet. Just finished Shakespeare Behing Bars. That was a really good film. I was just looking at the web site to see which back editions I want to order next. It's your fault bro, you got me hooked.

You took a photo of the rare and priceless dingleberry tree.

I should have picked some for you because I know how you like to snack on them :)

Nice pictures. It looks like a great place to walk. I believe your first picture is of a Staghorn Sumac. Native Americans made a tea out of the red flower/fruit part at the top. I have no idea how they made it or what it tasted like though.

Cool, I thought Sumac was poisonous.

fobra7 is correct, it's a staghorn sumac. They are in the cashew family of plants and are related to mangoes. You simply take the seed head and soak in in water to make a really tart, lemonade like beverage. Add sugar to taste. In the middle east ground up sumac fruits are used as a condiment. Some of the felafel places around town sprinkle a little on their hummus.

Great pics by & by. I hope we can join you for some more nature walks in the new year!

xoxo
