[Friends Only] Griffith Observatory

So today was supposed to be a Sherlock meet at the Griffith Observatory in LA. I never found the group (I really had my eyes peeled, so I'm not at all sure they even showed up -_- ) but it doesn't matter, because this place was gorgeous and really neat. I really had to reign in my inner 5 year old (I seriously wanted to run around most of the ( Read more... )

I know how you feel with Chris, and I definitely feel similar, though I'm usually content to just shut up and let him be my walking, talking guide. I may not remember anything he tells me (or if I do, it's in a "Chris told me this really cool story about electrons! I don't remember it to repeat it, but it was really cool at the time!"), but it really is interesting at the time. Our drive to and from Vegas when we went on that trip together was mostly me nodding and going TELL ME MORE. Fortunately he talks well and is really interesting, so I don't mind, but sometimes he'll go, "Hey, I'll shut up. You say something!" and I end up going "deeeeerp" because there's nothing I can talk so long and so eloquently on ( ... )

Yeah, I totally get what you mean. He's probably like genius level, and that's amazing. It's just my own insecurities about being so very normal that sometimes creep up and make me feel just...blah. Usually I let him just go on too, but then it begins to feel one sided and he does the whole "you talk" think and then I do the same kind of "derp" and end up just spouting what is apparently nonsense.

Ok, so we've done Chris's love (the Greek exhibit) all together. Next we need to do your love (astronomy/space) all together. And after that I think we should go do my love (OMFGOCEANLIFE:D I mean, an aquarium) all together. What do you think? :D

Awwwwww. I am sad we did the aquarium without you. :( That is unfortunately stupidly expensive. But! At least we can almost always get in some SHAINA RUNS ALONG THE BEACH TIME whenever we do anything in LA. He was also mentioning the Tar Pits, so that should be fun sometime. WHY DON'T I HAVE LOADS OF MONEY????

He really is brilliant though. It's more an a little intimidating, though maybe if I had his background I'd be more crazysmart too.

Well the nice cheap alternative to my love of fish is my love of beach!frolic, so yes, putting on a bathing suit and trundling off to the beach for the day is also one of my loves. But I meant in terms of exhibits. OH OH OH WE SHOULD GO WHALE WATCHING :D

I don't know, I'm always wondering how much genetics versus upbringing have to do with these kind of things, you know? DOES having two doctors for parents mean you'll automatically be ahead of the game from the start because they have the knowledge already, or is is because having two doctors for parents means you'll get a double boost of smart genes? It's a fascinating question, because you'll get those random genius people who don't have either the upbringing or particularly smart parents.
