There are things he does that go against the idea of masculinity. He refuses to accept male role models (his father, his superior officers etc). Instead, he let Katherine and Sage to teach him how to be a man, and he still follows their advice, he uses his sexuality as a weapon, he manipulates, plots, keeps secrets.

THIS. This is EXACTLY how I feel about Dean Winchester, and though I've never exactly pieced it back to Damon, I'm pretty much convinced that they are the same person.

This ~thought may not add to the conversation, but I love that you wrote this!!

And I think I had more to say, but lj won't let me *see* the post as I'm commenting on it (wtf?!?!?!) BUT! This is lovely and I agree and you are brilliant <3
