I saw this on fark.com & we had a question that maybe you, as someone who works at a library, can answer it. How was she able to even check out fifty-three DVDs?

That's a good question. At my library the limit is 7 dvds at a time. Most libraries that I know of have similar limits for videos, between 3-10 at a time. But maybe this library lacked a limit, or she knew how to get around it somehow.

I had a thought. Do you let kids have cards that are separate from their parents' accounts?

That *is* an astoundingly large number. I don't think I can even check out more than ten BOOKS, I think DVDs are limited to 3. I mean, around here I could check out 2 or 3 from several different libraries, but not all from one.

Yeah, it is weird that she was able to check out so many DVDs in the first place. I wonder if she obtained extra library cards fraudulently, or something.
