To me, your icon (I think I know the series it's from, but I'm not familiar enough with it to get the full context maybe) says, "Surprise, kitten!!" which is about the same thing as happiness :D

(this icon I'm using is my own "glee and joy and happiness!" expression :D the original artwork was more clearly a girl with money raining down on her (thus her joy), and I get an extra laugh out of knowing that...)

We're familiar with the series, but it never really came across as happy to us. It seems like a pretty standard, not-emotion-specific cat drawing. But we can be pretty deadpan ourselves, so that might have something to do with it.

I've no idea where the kitty in your icon is from. To me it looks a little bit contented, not smiling-happy but not sad either.
