We often think about how nice it would be to just geek out about manga with people. Unfortunately, we only own about half of Fruits Basket. Something like DN Angel or Saiyuki we could reread, assuming we could find the time...but we could join the discussion without rereading if it comes to it...
I would definitely be up for a Fruits Basket re-read, since I've been planning to do that anyway. I would LOVE for it to include full series spoilers, because I think a re-read would be hard to discuss otherwise. I don't think I'm up for a re-read of Newsflesh at this point - I really liked it, but I found it too emotionally draining to experience right now.
A while ago I brought up the idea of doing a group read-through of Fruits Basket in the Mark Spoils community, and there was a lot of support for the idea, so I'm planning to get one going over there after I finish my degree and have free time again (late May/early June). Of course, access to the story is going to be an issue, one that I haven't fully thought out yet. (I have this happy little daydream every so often that some time between now and then a legit digital version of the series will be released. Ah, if only!)
I think I would enjoy a group read-through of Newsflesh, too.
Oooh, good to know! For first-time readers, or a spoilery discussion? (Or do they do the R0t13 thing the way the main Mark Reads site does?)
Availability is definitely a concern. :/ One of my friends on DW is going to check and see if her library system has the series, and I have my fingers crossed for that.
It will likely be a mixed group of n00bs and re-readers. The spoiler rules for Mark Spoils are a little complex, but basically, the first level of a comment thread should contain no spoilers unless they are in rot13, and nested comments can contain uncyphered spoilers. Since it's a mixed group, all spoilers past the point where everyone is in the reading will need to be cyphered. (So yeah, in that way it's a bit like Mark Reads.)
Right now I'm leaning toward trying to get the read-along started June 1st, if you want to save the date. :)

I can totally respect that.
