Forces them to have a peaceful night under his roof before they go to end their quest. I love this--Bobby's forced kindness, and the fact that the boys need it forced on them.
He overhears (eavesdrops really, but Bobby likes to adjust semantics to what suits each need) the boys talk, LOL. See, this right here? Why Bobby is so awesome.
Shuffle of feet, creaking of the floor, nervous pacing, murmurs. An angry thump against the wall. Angry whispers. Imploring. Bobby doesn’t need to hear more. And this set of lines broke my heart. Broke. So simple, but they say so much.
“Hey, mama,” he says, cap in his hands. OH, Bobby!
See? This here? What I was talking about back in your envy post. The good stuff just keeps coming!
Bobby's just awesome, through and through. John Winchester makes my body/soul tingle whenever he opens his mouth (or breathes. Or just stands there. Basically just shows up) but Bobby? He owns my brain.
See? This here? What I was talking about back in your envy post. The good stuff just keeps coming! Aw thank you! :) (And I didn't kill anyone off in this fic. I'm so proud of me! :) )
Aw thanks. Bobby is actually a pleasure to write. I think I'll have to write more of him. :)
And I get to use this icon! You mean the con the devil icon? *grin* Yep. You get to use it. (Makes me smile though cuz I did it in less than five minutes time cuz I just thought I needed a Bobby icon. Just cropped the image, thought up a phrase I liked and didn't bother with details. Am glad it turned out nice though. Cuz Bobby is love. *ah* So am glad u like.)
Unless you meant that my fic gave you the chance to use your Bobby icon, which is a really cool icon btw, in which case I'll go hide somewhere because I'll feel a bit not fully brainfunctional. :)
Bobby reminds me of a whole host of Good Ole Boys I've known, some of whom are no longer with us. Reading Good Bobby (and this is Very Good Bobby) makes me happy---even when it's the end of the freakin' world, because, yeah, hope for the best and prepare for the worst....
Bobby is a joy to write. I don't know how to express this better, but some characters bruise me in order to write them (like Spike on occasion, or Angelus, and sometimes John Winchester.) With Bobby, even if it's an apocalypse fic, it's cozy, as if someone draped me a nice fluffy blanket around my shoulders.
I understand perfectly! Sometimes even when it's a character that you love, writing them is a real "fuck you!" fest. They refuse to cooperate, you have to slap them around, things escalate. It's so much easier when the character nudges you and says "Hey, this is what went down---" and all you have to do is write it. Too bad that happens so seldom!
It's not just that they are so spoilt in cooperation, it's that getting wrapped up in their...psyche or whatever the hell that is that makes them what they are, transfers some of the fuckedupness to you and you end up feeling...unpleasant. Like, angsty.

that sharpness right behind the pupils of his eyes.
Great description. He really does have a sharp, assessing look about him.
No, Dean, this time I want you to swear on dad’s grave.”
“Technically he wasn’t buried.”
*g* Trust Dean to be anal about something like this.
ee you on the flipside, mama. Soon.”
Oh, Bobby. His sense of finality hurts a little.
