This was great fun but *cough* Watson was so excited by Holmes's proposal that he forgot the cut tag ;D

Ooooops. Thanks for mentioning, off to fix.
html fail all round this evening, I screwed up my fic masterlist whilst tweaking and lost most of it, argh.

I do like your Holmes and Watson; Watson wanting to be appreciated (because he really doesn't receive enough) and Holmes being constantly alert. But the best bit: that Holmes language becomes more florid as he gets more aroused!

This is wonderful! My absolutely favorite part:

"If you must be vain, my heart, be vain that you are steel true and blade straight. Words can be had for a few shillings or an open ear. A Watson cannot be had for anything but..."

He shied away from it: he always did.

"For love, Holmes. For a truer love than many can hope for."

Ohhh! That makes me so happy!

Thank you! I'm afraid I pinched that phrase, "steel true and blade straight" - it's ACD's epitaph.

I thought I recognized it! But it's a very good phrase and quite wonderful here.

Aww, poor Watson. I'm glad Holmes was willing to over him some consolation after such a disastrous "interview".

Even if he did bring it on himself, a bit.
Thanks for reading, glad you liked it.

I wanted to write a coherent bit of feedback, but this story has caused me to be so ridiculously squeeful, I am not sure I can say anything that doesn't sound SILLY.

Oh, Watson.

Any and all comments, however daft, gratefully received in this journal. If we stuck to 'sensible', I'd write precious little, let's face it:-)

So glad you enjoyed it, thanks for commenting.
