commentary for come to the gobi, they said, for saunteringdown. my one and only flight of the phoenix fanfic, starring john davis (as played by jared padalecki) and rodney alex (as played by tony curran). the title of the fic comes from this line of rodney's, which is one of my favorite lines in the movie for no other reason than i love the way tony delivers

man, i was so confused i couldn't even remember which level was which. >.< only that scotland does it differently. seriously, other countries' high school/college qualifying exams confuse the hell out of me. britain especially, just because i know enough brits to have a vague idea that their system is stranger than ours.

i've now seen most of red road, which is set in glasgow, and some of it takes place in a tower block, so i know i wasn't completely off, but yeah, i couldn't begin to picture them otherwise. and i think we worked backwards trying to figure out how a nice scottish boy would end up drilling for oil in the gobi - why do people pick that as a career, y'know? - so it's good to know it made sense to someone else. :D

exactly. :D and he's not particularly religious/observant. his mom's the one who goes to church.

i know the swallow was originally a sailor's tattoo, but i have no idea what it means now, other than "i like old school tats." rodney was a brawler in his youth, but wren gets credit for his tat's significance. i just figured out what it was.

this is turning into a pretty educational commentary. nifty. :D
