[Optional prologue]
Emma think it's hilarious: "You're a 27 year old Academy award nominated Hollywood actor with a university degree who's written an off-Broadway play, and apparently the most interesting thing about you is that you have a British lesbian superhero girlfriend named Andrew."
"First lesbian superhero," Jesse says dryly which sets off Emma's laughter all over again. "It's not funny."
"I know, I was her lesbian damsel-in-distress: I was there," Emma manages between giggles. "And yes it is."

Little known fact #1: it's not love at first sight. But they do become fast friends, and even develop a routine when they end up living together for the entire Boston leg of the film shoot, both of them calling their respective girlfriends at the end of every night from bedrooms on the opposite ends of the house.
People always say they'll stay in touch but never do, so Jesse's more than a little surprised when Andrew calls him a year later: says that she's in town for the weekend and that they should meet for drinks. Jesse's between jobs and hasn't really left his apartment for reasons other than food or work since his break-up three months prior, so he grabs his jacket and goes.
Her hair's longer and shaggier ("I only kept it short because the girlfriend liked it short, but she finished with me, so fuck it.") and she's much less delicate-looking than he remembers. But she still gets and laughs at all his jokes, and listens, really listens, when he tells her about ( ... )

Three: She's upfront, upshot, upstart, up in every case
In January, Jesse's got a film opening at Sundance - he's less than excited about his contractual obligation to make an appearance, but Andrew agrees to come along, and with his hand clutching tightly to her mittened one, Jesse decides that Utah in the dead of winter is way less shitty when Andrew's by his side.
She hasn't got a movie here this year, so while Jesse doing Q&As and Meet and Greets, Andrew spends her days snowboarding and sleeping in. Jesse might consider hating her a little if not for her going to dinners with him as his plus one and gracefully running interference when the press start in on them and their first public outing as a couple.
The film is screening on the fourth day of the festival, and Jesse really doesn't want to be in attendance for that, so they make a plan: they'll sneak out of the auditorium when the lights go down; ( ... )

Jesse gets roped into doing the Canadian leg of the promo tour for their Woody Allen movie with Ellen because Alison's made prior commitments.
("But I'm not even Canadian!" Jesse protests half-heartedly.
"Who cares: you'll be fine," Alison dismisses. "If all else fails, just tell the interviewer you're actually Michael Cera: he's one of us, and they'll probably believe you.")
There are, admittedly, much worse than a promo tour with Ellen Page, who's smart and funny and has a really sweet girlfriend who hangs out with them during the shoot. Interviewers also all genuinely like Ellen, which makes it easier on Jesse when the focus is off of him. And when they do ask him questions, it's the same ones over and over anyway: 'what's the movie about?' and 'what was it like to work with Mr. Allen?' and 'how do you feel about Ellen Page as your leading lady ( ... )

This is glorious, and I love your girl!Andrew and Jesse. It tickles me that girl!Andrew is so close to the original, and the way you write Jesse, how he needs to share all his perceived weaknesses immediately, and how he totally plays journalists, that is absolutely spot on and hilarious. A million ♥
