[Beach Party - Side Beaches]

The main beach extends pretty far in both directions, and the further you go the more of a change there is. To the west the coast turns rocky, with nooks and wind-carved cliffs. A good place for exploring, or catching crabs.

To the east, the beach curves away in a private cove of even finer sand and calm water. Unlike the main beach, neither end

Shadow had meant to head in the direction of the BBQ pits but had somehow ended up going towards the east, eventually ending up at the private cove. He actually looked around a bit, checking to see if there was anyone around and... Once he thought he was for certain alone...

He dropped into the sand to kind of lay there.

"Because. It's Maria and she saw me fighting." Shadow answered, and if he is annoyed by the questions he's not showing it.

"I doubt it bothers her. I mean, she knows what you've done, right?" Rouge put a hand on his shoulder, trying and more than likely failing to comfort him. It wasn't as if she got a lot of practice. "She probably just thinks you're being an immature idiot like I do."

Shadow didn't say anything to that, and he didn't react at all to Rouge putting her hand on his shoulder. "Hn... Sonic started it anyways."

"Oh come on, at least admit that you instigated him." Rouge frowned, crossing her arms under her chest. "It's not like you'd have to stretch your imagination very far."

"He was making fun of you, that's what started it." Shadow shifted how he was sitting so he could rest his chin on his knees. "I'm completely innocent... This time."

"Making fun of me? What'd he say?" What she really meant was 'what on earth could be so bad that you'd jump to my defense', but she liked having all of her limbs. Funny how attached people get to silly things like arms, legs and wings.

Shadow took a bit to answer, thinking over what he should and shouldn't say. "Made fun of the fact that you've called me 'Shads' a few times."

"Well, that's making fun of you, not me." She returned, unable to hide a smirk at this. It was more than mildly gratifying to know that she's managed to push past Shadow's emotional blockades.

"... Hrmph." He rested his head on his knees again, closing his eyes. And then makes an attempt to get away from the current subject. "M'tired now."

"Vivi was resting in the beach house, maybe you should go do the same." Rouge suggested, rubbing his back in a feeble attempt to make him feel better.

Shadow was tempted to say he'd be fine here, but he knew better. As he slowly got up, offering a hand to Rouge. "Sure, I can get there myself so... You can go and have fun still."

Rouge watched him for a moment. Feeling that her company was unwanted she took his hand, turning away from him as soon as she'd gotten to her feet.

"Right, right. You know you should just tell me when you want time to yourself."
