If the Darksoul wanted to start with the vulnerable, what better way to start than with a child?

Sasami was probably the happiest she had been in ages. Everything seemed to fit into place just perfectly - a string of friends arriving, them joining her in her house, finally getting a chance at doing her job. It felt like nothing could possibly go wrong.

A few moments later, something did. With Sasami unprepared for what had happened, the Darksoul pounced, the only thing letting anyone know something was wrong was a horrified scream leaving Sasami's lips.

"Hmm... perfect... the fools. They won't harm a child, I know they won't!" the Darksoul spoke. "They're too... kind to do something like that. Though, this is just the beginning. I need someone stronger..."

With that, summoning the trident, the Darksouled Sasami stalked off to find a target...

Hit Girl wasn't feeling too bad either: she'd just gotten some training done with Negi and the beginning magic was working out just fine. She also had still been flirting pretty casually, so overall? Couldn't be more pleased with herself.

And take a look at who just happened to be coming by: that Sasami girl, who was...talking to herself for some reason. The hell? And when did she start carrying a trident.

"You princess!" Hit Girl greeted. "What's going on?"

Darksoul!Sasami turned her head and noticed Hit Girl. She didn't seem powerful enough, but the Darksoul did sense a bit of animosity between the princess and the vigilante.

"Why do you care, human?" Darksoul!Sasami said, aiming the trident at her. "You always look after number one, so keep doing so, lest you wish to suffer..."

"The fuck?" Hit Girl looked at the girl. "Is this what happens when you get your time of the month or something? If so, you can scrape out my uterus right now, the bleeding is bad enough."

All jokes aside though, what the hell?

"Is that supposed to be a wand or something? You're not doing magic with the cute redhead too, are you?"

The moment its power touched him, he knew.

He had tasted power like this before. The malevolent power of long-dead gods, of ruthless priestesses, of the black pits of hell itself.

And, coldly, inevitably, he knew that his own failure to it was inevitable.

But he had time.

As the Darksoul sank into his essence, sapping the strength of his immortal blood and the divine birthright it carried, worming its way into the cracks of his mind, the elf sat down at his desk, opened his spellbook, and began to purge his memory of every spell he knew. He sealed away all the staffs and wands he could behind wards that he couldn't dispel without the proper spell memorized. He prepared...

and he fought... and, inevitably, he lost.

Perhaps now he could finally convince these blithering ignorami of the value of wizardry!

Kang had shut down the tavern for the time being, and was moving rapidly through the city when he spotted Aibghalien. Oh, good, he was a fairly powerful wizard; he was sure to have some spells that would help.

"Aibghalien! We could use your assistance with something."

He'd yet to notice that anything was wrong.

Celena was quick to take wing after the news over the comms, a malicious spirit on the loose. If there was anything she could do to help she would do it. Taking note of all others had said in response to the message she dove into the city. Her eyes aglow as she scanned the city with her True sight.

Not long after she'd set to wing she spotted the two on ground level, recognizing the familiar elven wizard Aibghalien as well as the other, draconian if she recalled correctly, Kang. Sweeping once overhead before she swooped around one of the buildings and came to land a distance behind Kang. Even as she landed she could see something different about Aibghalien, as if there were two presences within his form rather than the one as she viewed the world through her Sight.

"Aibghalien, Councilor Kang," She called out in greetings as she padded up beside the Draconian Councilor, she hid any sign of concern from her features though the briefest look to Kang and he would hear her voice in his head my appologies Councilor Kang for the ( ... )

Oh, to the mundane senses, the weapon born across his back ought to have simply been a staff such as the wizard carried typically. But he dispelled that notion by producing it with a grin, revealing the three tines on its end that promised so much grief.

"My lady Celena," he said, with a wicked grin. "And Kang! Superlative! A magnificent ophidian concordance unparalleled in chronology! Seeking my facilitation.

"At last! At last! Opportunity inevitably presents itself, manipulable prostitute that it is. I regret only my inability to fully demonstrate the exquisite heights of thaumaturgical puissance. Celena, my dear, I beseech but a moment of your time for a demonstration of the virtue of magical enlightenment."

He spun lightly, snapping out a finger towards Kang with a wild grin. "Disintegrate!" But no beam of sickly green light flew forth. "Or perhaps not. Fortunate, no? Your abandoned sorcerous gifts haven't the strength to abjure any effect stronger than a mewling kitten! What esteem you are held in I'll never understand ( ... )

Kaylee is looking for a good lesson in Engineering with Jamie. He's happier than normal, with the Doctor around and the idea of the TARDIS being found again. Hopefully, with him in such a fantastic mood, they'll be able to get plenty done today. Her first stop is one of the consoles closer to the pit, just to double-check Stacy's current stats and make sure everything is alright for work ( ... )

Jamie has no idea what's just happened, having gone over to get the tools needed for the job today. He's in a truly good mood, and it shows. As much as he doesn't like to admit it, he really missed not having the Doctor around, and now that he's back, things feel right. For once, he's not worried that something's about to go wrong.

Maybe he should have been. As he finishes placing the last of the specialized spanners into a pocket of his tool belt, he glances up from the table and over to the glitching console where he last saw Kaylee.

"Kaylee? Are ye about set with the console?"

She's got something in her hand, and Jamie peers at it, trying to get a better look. Is that a trident? Huh.

"Hey, where did ye find that?"

He's a curious one, and Kaylee all but rolls her eyes. Honestly, how many questions can one simple little soul ask before someone gets tired enough to hit him.

Heh, hit him, good plan.

Kaylee's eyes travel down the the trident in her hand, and she gives Jamie a little shrug. "I found it, over by the console...but you should see what it can do."

There's a sudden burst of light, and Kaylee's grinning wildly as she swings the trident at Jamie, flames erupting from the end. The trident doubles back again, just in case anything missed the first time, and the Darksoul takes Kaylee to the closest console, fingers of one hand itching to type.

"Let's put this little mind to use."

"Over by the..." Jamie scratches his head, trying to figure out how a trident could have possibly gotten over by the console when a sudden, all too familiar sense of warning travels down his spine. It's instinct more than anything that causes him to twist, stepping back and out of the way of the first swing.

He's not quite quick enough to get completely out of the way, however, and the back end of the trident scores a hit on his arm on the way back. There's a moment of searing pain where it strikes, and a quick intake of breath as it registers that he's been hit.

"K-Kaylee?" He staggers back a few steps, giving her a rather stunned look at the same time. There's something very wrong here, but he's not sure just what. Maybe it's that trident.

"Kaylee!" Jamie darts over to where she is, reaching to try and grab the trident and get it away from her. "Ye have to let go of that thing!"

Cagalli was, to be honest, still a bit hesitant about just about everything on the ship - and that had in turn led to a bit of self-justified laziness. Poorly justified, but she didn't need much justification to take it easy after two straight years of constant shit coming at her before waking up here, and then having to deal with this.

This is why she was on her way to the public baths for the nth time when she gets a feeling that something's... off. A moment later, with barely a yelp, something indescribably dark had washed over her.

There was a moment of orientation before she looked around, slowly. "Yet another mortal, weak and frail... but not without her uses, as small a stepping stone as it may be." And suddenly, there was a trident in her hand and an evil grin on her face as she strode confidently off to the city.

If there's one thing that Mei-Xing's lifestyle will do for someone, it's teaching them to scan the area quickly while on the move. Dashing from one street to the next Why was this fucking city so big?, she skids to a stop when she finally catches sight of the darksoul's particular twisted aura on the astral plane.

Blinking her vision into reality, she grins. It was Kissy! She couldn't fight for drek, anyway. She stops in the middle of the street and wipes a thumb under her nose. "Hey, darksoul! Are choices that bad?" Just noise, while she prepares a manabolt to hurl at Cagalli. It probably wasn't as careless now as it had been inside Daimon.

Still, she could probably use the exercise.

The possessed girl whirled around at the voice. Despite having only met Mei-Xing once, that one time had burned the woman's voice and face into her memories, and not in a romantic way. She glared at the cocky woman; the Dark Soul was already frustrated with her, and rode a wave of confused anger from Cagalli on top of that.

By now, Cagalli's personality was beginning to assert itself, and blend with the Dark Soul's rage. "You... you witch, haven't you already caused me enough trouble? Enough problems for me?" Both souls agreed on this point, but she didn't actually attack yet.

She considers for a moment, tapping her chin to recall the times she'd met both souls in that body. After a long, thoughtful moment, Mei-Xing shakes her head. "No, not yet."

With that, she raises her hand. A bolt of harsh pink power crackles forth from it, a manabolt. She's not even playing with this, the attack's aimed directly for Cagalli's face. Mei-Xing fully intends to end the fight quickly, and doesn't particularly care how injured the people she has to fight for are.

It keeps quite a few unsavory tactics open for her.

Eva vissernone January 21 2011, 03:54:18 UTC
Eva's off-guard, wandering around the Great Wall of China and letting her mind roam. She's thinking back to when she and Peter, pretending they had the finances for it and the patience for such a flight, considered China as a honeymoon destination. Thinking back to when Edriss had pointed it out to her as the Pool Ship invisibly circled Earth.

Malevolence seizes her mind and instantly, she knows she's being invaded again, and by nothing good. The terror she feels gives her just enough time to fight back and grab the revolver from her hip and fling it over the wall, but before she can act on the impulse to tie her own hands or find some way to incapacitate herself, it's taken full control.

And besides, who needs a gun when you have a trident and can shoot soulfire? Filled to the brim with the violence of the Darksoul, Eva storms off in search of Iniss, or anyone else unfortunate enough to try and get in the way of years of pent-up rage and frustration.

Katara had read the message, and had rushed to see what she could do to help. She wasn't insane enough to go and fight anyone, not after the Steve mess, but they would likely need a healer after all of this, and one as soon as possible. This was, actually, a lot like what happened with Steve: who knew how many more people would get hurt when this demon stuff got out of control? She had to do something.

And that was when she spotted Eva with a trident. It struck her as odd: since when did she have anything like that? In fact, hadn't she seen that before?

"Um, Eva? Are you ok? What are you doing with that?"

Eva keeps walking straight past Katara, her face set into a hideous glare and her jaw clenched. "Out of my way, pathetic child. I've come to dispose of that worthless slug and rid the ship of that vermin once and for all."

Re: Eva kaya_waterwave January 21 2011, 05:14:58 UTC
NOW she knew where she'd seen the trident before: the voice, in fact, was something of away that this was definitely not Eva. No, this was that demonic whatever thing that was loose on the ship.

She was being possessed, AGAIN, just like with the Yeerk. she couldn't let that happen to her.

So Katara took a long breath, pulling out her water from the bottle and bending it to wrap around Eva tightly.

"I can't let you do that."
