It has been an odd week for the blonde in the Mess, and though she always looks a bit peculiar, her dottiness is rather more present than usual today ( Read more... )

Rei's head felt like it was going to split apart, his headaches were getting so bad. There was just too much going on in his brain. Every so often, a voice would jump into his head from nowhere, and start... talking. No, not just talking. They showed him things, too. It was like a film being projected into his head, but the projectionist only had part of one reel, would give up showing that film, and then try another one a little while later.

Maybe if he got something to eat, the headache would go away. He'd already tried lying in a dark and quiet room, and that hadn't worked. So food it was, for now.

He dropped his tray of gloop unceremoniously on a table, and sank into a seat, trying to force himself to eat, while clutching his watch in one hand like a kid holds a security blanket. After one half-hearted bite, he noticed the blonde shoeless girl staring at him. She kind of unnerved him a bit.

"Um... hi?" He managed to say, not really sure what to think of her.

Luna blinks, her wand stilling in her hand.

"Hello," she responds, not seeming to notice--or maybe she just doesn't care--that her staring is making him uncomfortable.

If it's any reassurance, she's not really "staring at him". It's more along the lines of "idle studying".

Someone not caring that Rei was uncomfortable. There seemed to be a lot of that going on recently. Then again, he did have the tendency to pop up out of nowhere and bother normal people who may or may not have met him yet in his homeworld, so maybe he deserved it a little.

"Yeah, hi," he said again. His brain was clearly not all there today.

"So, um. How's... it going?" It would seem that without a fully-together head, Rei quickly became one of the most awkward people ever.

"If by "it" you mean "life", then I suppose it's going alright, though I do rather miss having shoes that fit," she says, finally breaking eye contact with him in order to tuck her bare feet under her in her seat.

Every now and then, the Doctor does remember the need for silly little things like food. It's a bit harder to care, with the slop in the Mess Hall, but if nothing else, it's usually a good opportunity to chat with any crew members who happen to be around.

Today, he thinks the blonde girl sitting by herself in the centre of the room looks like she could use a little company, so he sets his tray carefully on the table, slides into a chair across from her, and smiles.

"I'd offer a penny for your thoughts, but I haven't got one on me. Still, care to share anyway? They look like they must be terribly interesting." Well, that, or this girl's... not all there. That could explain her expression, too, but he'll go with the first assumption for the moment. It seems nicer.

Luna blinks, and there is something vaguely resembling a smile lingering about her face as her wand stills in her hand.

"That's alright--I'd have to go to Gringotts if I were to use a penny, anyway. We don't have pennies at home," she says, pausing for a very long time after that, staring at him.

"I can't say I was thinking about much, though I suppose I was considering the various positives and negatives involved in growing two inches overnight. Are you from the North?"

"North of where?" the Doctor asks with a grin. "The answer's no, no matter what planet or country you pick, but... I don't sound like I'm from the North, do I? Again?" That seems like the most pressing question, to him, but after a moment, he adds, "And... what d'you want to grow two inches for, anyway? Does something special happen if you're two inches taller, or...?"

"Just North. Your hair reminds me of a Northerner I met once. The resemblance was so striking that I couldn't resist asking," she says dreamily, eyeing his hair with a great deal of her vague brand of interest.

"It isn't a matter of wanting so much as a matter of doing. I woke up a few days ago and thought something was a little off, as all of my clothes had shrunk and I couldn't fit my feet into my shoes, and then I realized that I had grown rather a lot. It was disconcerting to say the least, but I suppose these things will happen."

Beastboy was very much in his own world today as well, thinking about the Outsiders and what he could do to help them pull together as a team.

Games were always a good option, training exercises too, or maybe a party?

As such he wasn't paying attention and tripped falling to the floor with a crash close to Luna landing face first in his goop sending it splattering beautifully.

How fortunate it is, then, that Luna has her wand out when she is splattered with slop. She sits for a moment, watching the green boy tumble to the floor, feeling a great deal of his unappetizing sustenance on her face and arms. She's quite certain her dress is newly decorated, as well.

"Feet do tend to get in the way sometimes," she says vaguely, stilling her wand enough to wave it, saying "Scourgify!" The slop vanishes, and they are both marvelous and clean again.

Beastboy's eyes were huge when he looked at himself and the girl and the food that was no longer there, "Whoa...how'd you do that?!" He exclaimed in shock.

"Magic," Luna responds simply, her wand still in her hand, and there is something of a smile lingering in her face. "Didn't I see you at the Outsiders meeting? I think I remember you--you're rather green."

Yzak originally assumed that as he took a few steps toward her to pass, she'd break eye contact.

... so it unnerved him just a little bit when she didn't. He wondered if this was her way of getting attention, and if she wanted something.

"Yes?"

Luna blinks and continues to stare at him for several seconds longer than is strictly necessary for casual conversation.

"Did you know that the ceiling pulsates here? It's very interesting."

That was an odd lead-off question. Maybe the girl was just trying to make friends. Awkwardly. Yzak shrugged in response.

"It's weird. But we were told that the ship is alive when we woke up here, didn't we?"

"Oh yes, of course it's alive. I hadn't questioned that--she's a very nice ship, too. I had never noticed the ceiling's pulsing, though." A beat, and she blinks again. "I'm Luna."

Kettch didn't find the girl odd at all. Humans were odd on principle so he couldn't really tell when one was being more odd than usual for the species. Besides, he wasn't much concerned about a human youngling playing with a stick. Right now, he was more concerned with getting something to eat.

He frowned down at his tray and poked at the mess with a finger. Same as last time. It wouldn't be so bad if it had better texture... and better flavor... and better smell.

Kettch huffed to himself and then padded over to the closest table. Then began the awkward process of putting the tray up on top of the table, then hopping up and scrambling and kicking to get himself up onto the too-tall seat, then having to stand up and sit on the edge of the table so he could easily get at the tray of food. Human-size furniture was so stupidly hard to use!

Luna watches him with rather an intrigued expression on her face, her head tilting. His struggle goes almost unnoticed as she shifts down a few seats to sit across from him, her slightly protuberant eyes fixed on the small creature with a great deal of enthusiasm.

"If you don't mind me asking, what manner of creature are you?"

Kettch kicked his legs idly as he scooped up some of the goop onto his three fingers and licked it off as he looked around the room. But at the question, he scooted around to face the voice.

"Loktok! I am Kettch of Bright Tree Village. I'm an Ewok!" He tilted his head to the side in curiosity. "Who are you?"

[ooc: loktok = greetings]

She smiles, tucking her wand behind her ear rather absently.

"I'm Luna Lovegood," she says, her head tilting slightly, as well. "I don't think I've heard of an Ewok before. Where are you from?"
