2010 To-Do List:
12.Watch A Musical
I went to meet my brother in London on Friday, along with my sis who came in from Winchester. I think there was some mystical connection at work as my sis and I were really craving curry the day before. So we managed to get his housemate to cook it for us :)
So the musical was the main point of the visit. I've never been to one before and I really wanted to cross that off my list this month. We went through a few before settling on Wicked for Saturday at the Victoria Apollo Theatre. When we finally left the apartment in the afternoon, lazy bums that we are, we walked to the station. Aghh.. we were really useless. Didn't know which train to take. Went through the same station three times before we could finally figure out where we were going. But we got there.
We went to the ticket kiosk guy and turns out, since we were kind of late, all the cheaper tickets were sold out and all that's left were the £50 ones. I knew that might be the case but the others were a bit apprehensive. My sis did not like that, so we decided to try something else. But afterward I offered to pay £20 of her ticket since me and bro really wanted to watch this one. We went to take out money and when we came back, the kiosk was closed. So... we were a bit 'where do we go?' before thinking they might be selling at the actual theatre as well. We went there, and this time the price was £60. So now my sis was all 'NO.' and in the end I paid for half her ticket (not bitter or anything though).
We went walking for a bit since we had about 3 hours to spare. We went for a bite at Pizza Express. After pizza, we ate ice-cream and sushi and cookies and candy floss. Was it a good idea? Not really. But it was awesome ^w^ Oh, while we were eating the sushi at the station, a bird pooped right in front of us. We were waaaaay too excited about people stepping on it; figured that whoever managed to avoid it had good karma. A lot of close calls, but no one stepped on it. Then this lady stomped her heel right smack in the middle of it.
The auditorium itself was grand. The stage looked really great with the dragon and structures etc. We sat on the balcony, very exciting ^_^ The story itself... it was funny, amazing, tragic, wonderful.. I really love how they incorporated some of the original aspects of Wizard of Oz. Some of the musical numbers were really BEAUTIFULLY AWESOME!! Just things coming together, seems so magical sometimes.. Even my bro was saying he'd go again with his girlfriend.
All in all, it was worth it. ^_^
On Sunday, we ate lunch at Nandos. We were all dying in our chairs afterwards and had to doggie bag a lot of it.
Then we walked around a bit and went to the cinema. Decided to watch Avatar in 3D. Hmm... it was really good. It didn't feel that long at all. The 3D was great but I don't think it really added that much. It ended late so I had to stay an extra night and miss Monday's class.
Oh, before we watched the movie, since we had about 3 hours to spare, we went to a karaoke! Something I found out... none of us can keep a tune. Frankly, none of us can sing. Not that we really cared anyway. A little bit of KT Tunstall, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Guns 'n Roses and the lot... Now that was fun. :)
