This is the downside to the possessive streak we all seem to love so much in Batman. Sometimes, the way he treats people, it's almost as if he's testing them to see how much they can take; how much they care about him and are willing to put up with him.

Clark, of course, loves him a lot. Maybe even enough. *g*

Clark would never give up on his Bat, no matter how impossible the man might be. :)) At least, in my universe. *g*

And this is what makes him Superman. Clark has the patience of a saint, to keep trying with Bruce, even if he's just doing what his heart is telling him. Any other person would be too dejected by this point to have any feelings left worth salvaging.

And isn't that sort of what Bruce wants, anyway? To drive Clark away? And yet, he struggles so hard to keep him.
