snow!

Dec 03, 2011 02:10

Probably just a sign of originally growing up in New Jersey (well, until I was 8 or so), but I really like Real Fall (leaves change color then fall, etc) and Real Winter (snow, damnit).

Got the leaves earlier this week, and now there's an inch of snow on the ground already.

Yay!

weather, abq

I bet there'll be more soon: we're at 30 cm up here and it's supposed to be headed your way.

More would be nice, but the inch from last night is already gone. Will see if we get any more.... Drove through a few tiny flurry lines, nothing impressive yet.

They're forecasting up to 6 inches (which is pretty mighty for around here). That'll be nice.

And some nice, balmy, -15C lows (and -7C highs...)

I've alway wanted to see a "real fall." And snow! Cool. In California, we had record winds a few days ago that shot down LAX. Santa Anas that were cold. Worst in 20 years, according to forecasters. Well, it was actual "weather" and in California that counts! ;-)

Well, Albuquerque (where I live) is really on the boundary of having "real fall"; mostly it's the cottonwood trees in the Bosque (riverside trees). Most of the rest of the area is Sonoran desert, so just brown and scrubby ( ... )

*Nod* I saw that... crazy. We had pretty bad winds here: 40mph sustained, 80-90mph gusts, and that's all in the valley; mountain crests and passes were seeing worse than that. An LJ acquaintance-of-an-acquaintance in Colorado saw 200kph (so 120+mph) gusts.

I saved this screen cap off The Weather Channel, towards the end of the event (I live pretty much where the "52" is):

Thanks for the tip!

Exactly the same thing happened to me when I started up my new ASUS CM1831-US-3AC. ASUS should put instructions directing to proper USB ports for the mouse and keyboard packaging. ASUS you listening? This would save much frustration for new buyers.

Thanks again!

I’m not ready for snow yet. Ultimately, we just had our first real accumulating yesterday.
I’m glad I’m not going anywhere today.
Because the temperature got down to 14 degrees last night, the snow froze, creating a layer of ice on top of what had fallen.
Sure, the sun’s out, but it’s not going to warm up much. Therefore, I don’t see the snow melting any time soon. I wonder if it’s actually going to be sticking around for a while. I mean, the ground is now cold enough for that to even be possible.
Glad I’m not venturing out today. I definitely don’t want to fall because of slipping and sliding on the snow. Not having snow boots most definitely doesn’t make walking in the snow any easier for me; nor is it less dangerous without traction.
It’s winter!
Though the calendar is saying it’s not December 21 yet, it looks like winter already because of the snow that has already fallen yesterday. Since it’s not really supposed to warm up, I wonder if the snow is actually going to stick around for a while.
