Love it (as your other stories)...but there's one thing that left me scratching my head, at the beginning you set the story in Bagram Afghanistan 1997 but back then the US hadn't a base in Afghanistan (ok maybe some blackop operation). Back in the 1997 the civil was just started in Afghanista

*smacks self in head*

Well, crap. I spent several days researching this and still got it wrong. I think I started out looking for 1997 and somewhere along the way I got to thinking I was looking for 2007 instead. Dummy! Me, not you. Thank you for the correction and I will go fix it. I feel like such a dufus.

I love this! What a fantastic look at some of the things that made John who he is and how those events seem to carry over the years. Yay for teamy goodness, lovely h/c, and a sweet ending.

Many thanks. I wrote this in such a disjointed way that I was afraid it didn't flow and would seem too choppy. Glad you enjoyed it!!

Love your stories! You are a great writer and I feel so lucky that you write for this fandom. I realize that the show is done but I am still in love with the show. Nothing else has gotten my attention yet. It is authors like you that keep it alive and I really want to thank you.
Now, as for the story, Shep whump at it's best! I loved the comparison from when Sheppard first arrived in Atlantis and then when the team had been together for a while. It was a great character growth for Sheppard as well as the team.
I don't think it was disjointed but authors are always their worst critics. The point that you did research showed how much you care for our group of intrepid adventurers! I just wish that we could get more stories from you but that is just my selfishness to read about my pretty Sheppard! I realize that you do have a life outside the fandom so I will just cherish the stories that you do write for us. Thank you so much! ;)

Wow! Thank you so much!!! TV and most fans may be done with SGA, but I'm not. There truly is no other fandom for me. I may not have time to write as much as I used to, but stories will keep trickling out until I'm too old to type. There's a magic there I cannot get with any other show. It makes me sad how many of my favorite writers have completely abandoned SGA and never looked back.

I do try to research any time I'm writing about something new, something I know nothing about. I think I figured out what happened. My timeline started in 1997 and ended in 2007 and I think somewhere in the two or three days I was searching stuff out, I started thinking of 2007 as the beginning of the story. How goofy is that? Yeah, don't answer that question (LOL).

What a great story hon....the only type I expect from you!!! This story made me realise yet again how much I miss these guys!! I adore Sheppard whump, team, good old fashioned Atlantis adventure, Lorne and Sheppard dynamics....so basically all the things I love are in this story. It was lovely having all the main characters visit....Sheppard and his team, Carson, Elizabeth, Lorne....wonderful nostalgia. Thanks hon and please keep on writing more like this to help fill the void of not having the guys visit us on the screen anymore. Three cheers for fanfic writers....long live Atlantis through you!

Thank you! And I miss them too - practically every day. Every time I see a show that's been on for more than 5 years I get jealous and wonder why SGA couldn't have gone on. Then I remember - it's because Brad Wright is a MORON!! And apparently so is SciFi or SyFy or whatever the heck they call themselves these days.

I'm so glad there are still a few of you out there that like reading SGA fanfiction because I still have a lot more story ideas and outlines in my notebook. I'll be at this for a while. I won't be jumping ship on SGA any time soon, unlike most of the other writers. Either I'm obsessed or I have a longer attention span (LOL)!!

Happy sigh. So nice. Really like the contrast between the three missions, going from bad to better each time, but finally John finding/realizing what he's really got on Atlantis. And some lovely whump, of course! Love the line, "Feel like I got blown up" and Rodney's translation. Spot on. I also liked that Lorne had a nice, competent part to play. Too bad Rodney's a social lost cause, even after all the years, hee hee. Love Teyla for pulling John out of his unhealthy introspection. Go team! Thank you!

Thank you again!! I should use Lorne more often. I really like the character, but I tend to focus on the team and forget about him. Rodney made a little progress, but when push comes to shove, he's always Rodney - bragging or complaining or panicking. But he does have his good moments every once in a while so I guess we'll have to keep him (LOL). And you have to love Teyla - calm and serene and trying to bring a little of that to her teammates. Gosh, I miss them all so much.
