If you're alone and getting drunk to the point you can't take care of yourself, it's disturbing. If you're alone and you're the primary caretaker and you do that, even moreso. Having a drink or two? No prob. Having a glass of wine with dinner is healthy then.

The implication of the article was that a woman drinking at all is evil and corrupt. It seemed like men were never in the caretaker role and women's roles were to be caregivers forever, thus a woman drinking after having kids = a woman drinking on the job. That was what pissed me off. Grr.

Though I don't see a damned thing wrong with having a drink or two after the brats are in bed....I can't agree with getting shitfaced without another adult acting as a backup. I do agree that the tragic examples are a bit daft...Stupid people doing stupid shit is nothing more than that, regardless of whether the kids are there or not ( ... )

I worry about people getting shitfaced on their own anyway. That usually indicates some sort of emotional or mental problem, and that's not even mentioning addiction ( ... )
