On December 23, I came home from vacation in St. Augustine w/family. It wasn't 'til talking with family that I decided that I was going to get married in May.

$2.85/slice actually aint bad. I've seen it as low as $2/slice in Columbus so you can probably do better. Surprisingly, I've heard Kroger and Sam's Club can do affordable and decent looking wedding cakes.
The first cake maker we met with wanted $10/slice for kosher :) We just went sith our caterer for much less, and she males better cake anyway. Maybe not as artsy-fartsy, but whatever.

Per Tom's suggestion, we're gonna ask Tom's uncle if he wants to do a trial-run wedding cake attempt (he's made some really creative cakes for birthdays before), and if that one works out, that'll be what we do.
If not, Walmart supposedly makes 3-tier wedding cake. I didn't know Kroger did, too-- cool.

Are you getting married in Indiana or FL ? For ours we just did some special cakes from Publix- not even wedding style. This one: http://www.publix.com/food/catalog/ProductDetail.do?id=170 but back then it didn't have the strawberries or nuts.
Anyway, just a thought- maybe there is a grocery store with a nice bakery like publix that could do something neat. Unless you absolutely want a traditional cake, don't ever say "wedding cake" it skyrockets prices tremendously.

But nope, it'll be in Florida. The vast majority of guests will be from here.
