I wish I had a huge, beautiful farm somewhere away from this city where I could take every stray animal I see and adopt animals from the shelter here so they won't be euthanized. You make such a very good point there. Also, it -is- very hypocritical of self-proclaimed devout Christians and Catholics who probably never stop to think of things that way. People are self-absorbed and think they're the only great things on this planet.
HAha I was writing this with a total straight face, but then all of a sudden I thought to myself WE NEED CAPTAIN PLANET and then I loled.

Yeah, I guess it's the self-absorbtion that gets me. We're not the only ones here. Yes, there are humans in dire need of help from other humans, but animals are pretty much helpless, and I think that treating them in a compassionate manner shouldn't even be debatable.

Sadly I see it in all religions.
Without getting pages and pages of rantiness, No matter how much they proclaim to be doing things "in the name of God" it's really that they want God to do stuff for them. They don't do good things because they should, they do it because they expect some divine pay off for "all their time"
That's not really a way to live. It makes them very selfish and cold all while spouting how much more moral they are. Do I pray and hope for change in my life? Yeah, totally. But I also "try" to live a good life and help others. Not because I want things or hope people will reward me for it. I just do. I want to see things get better and while I can't control other people I can control myself ( ... )
