You can bet your ass it isn't the expression Teddie's used to. You have to understand: Red arrived to this island with his team and was informed that there weren't Pokémon here.

No. Pokémon.

Those words still echo in Red's head - it's the worst news anyone could get like, ever! Don't take him wrong, the local "animals" are cute and all, but they won't battle at all.

So imagine Red's surprise when, in his way to explore the city and buildings, he finds Teddie at the store.

This could only mean one thing. "Go, Pikachu."

Teddie unconsciously takes a step back as he watches the -- what is that thing, some sort of rodent? -- materialize from a -- well, Teddie doesn't really have a word for it. Some sort of plastic ball? How does that even work?

The rodent crouches down, sparks of what appear to be electricity generating from his cheeks. Is this thing looking for a fight? Surely not.

He engages in an internal debate for a split second of how to respond -- engage the attacker? assure him he means no harm? wait to see if the kid is even planning to attack? -- and goes for the path of least resistance. He puts on a friendly face, smiles, and waits for the kid to say something else.

Maybe he just wanted his pet to have a new friend, after all!

Oh, Red always wants new pet friends for his team and also himself. You can't have too many of those.

Sadly, today that's not the case.

A friendly face won't fool him - cute can be deadly in his world. Just ask the little yellow rodent. "Quick attack." Better start with some distraction tactics until he discovers what that bear could do.

So now there's a battling mouse running around Teddie, waiting for the perfect moment to attack - get distracted just one second, and you're screwed.

Fast was an understatement - the only thing visible was a yellow flahs sorrounded by electricity. Don't be surprised if some of the sorrounding technology starts acting up to it!
