I think we do this very very losely.

We DO have time restraints. And the church's money doesn't go to helping the poor too much (like you were saying in Sunday School). Also, we obviously don't send a portion of communion to absent church members.

Some of these differences are understandable due to our day and age; some of us have jobs and other obligations that don't allow us to have zero time restraints on church services. Also, sending part of communion just seems...silly. Unless the non-present member is sick or in a nursing home or hospital or what not, there is probably a reason they aren't present due to them being unavailable. But the giving of our offerings to the less fortunate is something the church should definately work on (along with the giving of offering in general, at least for churchgoers much like myself).
