Indeed...we have these in Chicago as well. It is well-known and favored upon by all who understand what they are, to pay homage to those who have passed when you see a ghost bike. And in Chi-town, when people don't know what they are, folks do kindly explain. That is how I learned what they were back in the day. Every time I see one, it still takes my breath away for a moment.
