This photo, taken by my late uncle Marshall, who had introduced us, goes with the second verse of "Once In a Lifetime", the song I wrote for my beloved Dunkelpig on our thirtieth wedding anniversary in 2002:
After two years together, at last I proposed; My heart flew, but I felt my guts sink.
You cried "Yes!" and you hurried to wake up your folks
While I nervously called up my shrink.
At our wedding we danced the first hora together --
Tradition we couldn't refuse--
And you laughed as I painfully pulled my sore feet
From my brand-new, unbroken-in shoes.
Some things are once in a lifetime,
Miracles, wishes come true,
But once in a lifetime is all that I need
If I'm spending my lifetime with you.
