I bought Merrell sandals and found that they were jolly comfortable in the shop but give me blisters if I actually walk in them.

My choice of comfortable shoe for summer is actually the (whisper) Boat Shoe. But they are so socially unacceptable that I can't wear them..

You shoudl give them to rikan_feral.

I wear roman sandals. For all your comfort, brisk striding, not-stinky and can-be-worn-with-dresses needs.

I used to be able to wear Romans and they were my sandal of choice but now I inevitably get hideous blisters on the balls of my feet from the rivets and gave up in despair. Which is a shame because I really really *like* them

When I lived in town they were ok for walking around but once I added another 20minutes of walking to get anywhere, they just don't cut it anymore

Admittedly some of my stockings had worn very thing by then so I didn't melt but I don't think I could do it now.
