Ah, Keith, you are amazing.

I haven't fully absorbed what Proposition 8 must mean to some very saddened people in California. Has there been any word about whether the standing marriages will be grandfathered?

I am so fortunate to have found someone who shares my views on gender, and whom I am legally able to marry- it sickens my heart that people could be so calloused about something that doesn't involve them.

It's strange (and at least a little hopeful) to me to think, that I was born to a Mexican man and a "white" woman (if you can call an 18 year old and a 16 year old "man and woman") just seven years after the time in our history when the races couldn't legally marry.

My heart goes out to you. *hugs*

According to our AG, existing marriages will not be affected. There's also some litigation moving forward to halt enactment of the amendment until the lawsuits against it are resolved, so, as disgusting as the election results were, all is not yet lost.

Inalienable rights cannot be taken away with a majority vote. It will take time, but I sincerely believe we will see ourselves past this.

Wow. I have often tried to find the words to explain why gay marriage should be legalized but all I seem to come up with is, "Why not?! It's just the right thing to do." Keith, in his own Keith way, managed to say it much more eloquently and cheesy than I could ever have and it made much more sense. Thanks for posting it!

What he has to say mirrors a great deal of what I feel about it and I feel that he says it in such a warm way... I just had to share. Someday we will be able to sit back and wonder how it came to pass that we let history repeat and wonder at the absurdity that, not so long ago, people were not able to wed for love due to gender.

There are so many more ( legal and moral ) reasons that this should be a recognized right.. but this really speaks to the heart of it for me.
