What: A series of little Overdive mishaps occur.
Where: Nautilus.
When: May 8th to May 13th.

Had he been provided with a map, the mage probably would have found his way out of the woods in the Southern District at some point. However, years of living in Kirkwall had ruined his sense of direction in the wild. And Anders was lost.

He was lost, it was dark, and, of all things, he was using a pair of burning knickers as a torch. Varric would have laughed. Fenris would have scowled. Merrill would have found it fascinating. Any of their usual crew would have had something to say.

Justice was silent on the matter. Typical.

He sighed, and leaned against one of the trees, rubbing a palm over his face. Maybe he should open his book and ask for directions.

The slowness of time is a heavy weight on her sanity. It isn’t any wonder why she possesses those as she already has-this realm of solitude, surrounded by many memorable and unfamiliar faces, is enough to drive anyone mad.

Her eyes shift lazily in the direction of a man leaning against a tree. His frozen pose leaving him with his hand over his forehead, as if exhausted by something. The particular aura of light surrounding him indicates that he’s human, or at least a body that is capable of possession.

Slowly, she makes her way towards him, cautious so as not to make contact so soon. But before she can stop to think or hold back on what she is about to do-

beat

Aya was staring down at the ground with a man’s hand over her own face.

“Not again...”

He wasn't even aware anything had happened, until he heard himself speak, without meaning to. He couldn't raise his head. Nothing happened. He tried to move -- tried to speak -- and nothing at all happened.

And Justice rebelled.

It seemed the spirit realized what was happening before Anders did. And the incident enraged it. Blue light crackled across Anders' skin, his eyes glowing like little blue suns of rage. How dare someone invade -- how dare it touch them -- there was no fairness -- no justice -- they would pay for this --

Somewhere in the mage's mind, Justice's voice thundered.

EXPLAIN YOURSELF.

Whoa.

This was new.

If the second voice was any indicator, it was obvious that this date was not just a table for two. While Aya couldn’t say that she had driven into enough bodies to consider herself an expert at this, she could safely say that this was the first time she had Dived into someone who already had an additional soul occupying it. In most cases, that would raise the question of whether it was safe or not, but seeing as they hadn’t impulsively exploded, then she might be okay.

For now.

“If I could, I would. I can’t...” What? Control it?

Most people wouldn’t find being subjected to trial and error to be all that comforting.

[Here's an easy target. When Raye meditates, she focuses her mind and clears out all unnecessary thoughts and memories. Even the pleasant ones, such as training with Serena and Kovu, or spending time with Rex. She's found balance in living and Bending in the daytime, and concentrating on the vision she saw in the evening as she struggles to interpret the meaning further. There are so many questions, but she's not asking them now. Instead, she's opening her mind to the possibility of answers. And such an open mind is very receptive to 'visitors.']

[So the priestess kneels before the Sacred Flame, eyes closed, hands moving as she summons the vision to her mind once more, playing it out again despite how unpleasant it is. She needs to know more, to see if there's some sign or hint that she missed.]

[Apparently, it’s futile to exercise caution. No matter how careful she might be, the yearning for her once-corporeal form drives her back to the other side of this world, which leaves her in someone else’s body.

This tends to result in some awkward conversations.

“Yeah I was totally inside someone else’s body!” That’s what she said.

At this rate, she begins to wonder if she should even be in Nautilus at all. But the thought of going back home or leaving at all, especially while Kyle and Eve are around-well, the thought alone hurts too much. They’re her family, after all. And she’ll do anything to get back to them.

Somehow, these feelings brought her rapidly to a young woman who seems to be praying. It doesn’t take long before she finds her mind invaded by an ethereal force, Diving into both the young woman’s subconscious… and her meditative state.]

...

[Well. This is definitely interesting.]

Let me know if I need to change any of this! flamescout May 10 2011, 03:48:44 UTC
[Interesting. That's one way to describe it. Though Raye's eyes are focused on the fire, she doesn't see it. What she sees is the wide expanse of darkness, as though she were standing in the middle of it. This is probably what Aya sees too. And being spiritually keen, Raye also sees Aya. Her expression hardens.]

What are you doing here?

[Aya definitely isn't part of her visions!]

[Something pushes her out. Instead of it being the other way around, it’s almost as though something is driving its way into her brain. She doesn’t know what it is, but she chooses to keep her distance.

Regardless of that, this girl can somehow see her. Not just a voice in her head or anything like that-but actually noticing her presence, despite being nothing more than a wandering soul.

She tilts her head at the girl’s question.]

I honestly don’t know...

It was a day like any other for Mitham. He'd gone to train with Starscream that morning, he'd gone over some lessons later, he's practiced throwing knives like Nash had shown him, and now he was just wandering the city with a panda cub and a cat on his heels.

It was a normal day, and nothing really out of the usual was expected.

Knowing what she does now, it would only make sense if Aya simply just leaves. That, however, does not resolve anything. Orihime is working on a solution, she knows, and even if it may be a temporary one... it’s still a something. And that’s better than nothing.

So she has to stick around. But until then, it doesn’t seem as though she has any other choice but to wander this strange maze; the sluggish time, the unsettling silence, people walking by and not even seeing her, not passing a glance in her direction. Not even the ones who matter to her.

The feeling becomes overwhelming. She wants to be seen again. She wants to feel and smell and touch the world around her.

In the next moment, she got her wish, suddenly realizing that the world around her had changed-and she was suddenly smaller. Now walking down the streets of the city with a couple of animals following her.

Or Mitham.

She would ask, but she had a feeling that she already knew the answer.

Mitham lurched to a stop...or would have if his body was still under his command. He couldn't help the panic that shot through him, feeling his body moving even though he wasn't the one moving it.

~Wh-what's going on!?

They all seemed to feel the same way in that initial moment. Panic. Outrage. Fear. Who could blame them? Aya didn’t. If someone had attempted to take control of her body, she’d be feeling pretty much the same way. Unfortunately, the result of such a thing actually led to her inevitable demise, in her case.

She stopped the boy’s feet for him. It turned out to be a strange realization that she was slightly closer to the ground than she was used to, in addition to the fact that she was in a child’s body. Then the familiar voice spoke out into her mind, and she lifted the boy’s head.

“Mitham?” Of course, the word came out in Mitham’s voice. Aya closed his eyes and concentrated on her own words in the boy’s consciousness:

Mitham, it’s me. Aya. Sorry about this.
