Not terribly, no. I love sony but I'm looking for a good camera for a price anywhere from 700 to 1000 dollars. The cheaper the better, I'm only starting to save at the moment. I'm open to buying used but more interested in buying new.
You'd be better off buying a NEW dslr, because the chances of finding a used one that isn't broken are slim to none.
I'm a Nikon whore myself; everything I have is Nikon. Personally I have the D40X (500 bucks, hooray for employee discount!), but I really wish I had waited and gotten the D90. It's like heaven in your hands. I think it's the first DSLR with an HD movie mode, and it's a 12.3MP. ISO is 100 to 6400. 4.5 FPS, and a 64 millisecond shutter lag really make it worth the 900 dollar price tag.
The fact that it's an SLR with liveview is kind of a turn off though. It takes away from what an SLR is. It's all Canon's fault.
*steps off of soapbox*
edit: Also, if you're just starting to save now, by the time you get enough to purchase it, it should be LOADS cheaper.
I use a canon rebel xti. I think I got it like a year ago. I got it from craigslist so it was a major major deal (I think $650 or $700, could be wrong though). I LOVE IT and can't complain.. however I also just shoot and don't deal with most of the technical stuff you're talking about :) (I don't know if you can tell that from my work!). But it's good for me because it has most everything and isn't huge, heavy, or bulky so I can take it in a purse everywhere. And my camera is a canon..but does not have a liveview, so I don't know about that...
"I'm considering investing in my own DSLR Camera, I just don't know which one I want. I need something which has a good ISO range so i can take good photos in low light and high light. Obviously need RAW format and high quality images. I would also like a self timer, image stabilizer, a reliable burst mode, and wouldn't mind a good Auto Focus
( ... )
Also, I forgot you had a D70, if you buy that lens I was talking about it will instantly increase your picture quality in low light.
1.4 vs. the 3.5 you lens currently does at 18mm (its like 5.6 at 70 if I remember) is about 6x the light coming through! Thats like 6 ISO stops for free with no noise.

Live view is good for a lot of things, mostly studio work, while the video mode is worthless (No autofocus, rolling shutter, etc.).
