Geeking Out

I decided yesterday that I was going to treat myself, godsdamnit. I figured I more or less deserved it. And I also needed to feel accomplished about something. Just a tiny something. So I thought to myself, why not combine both? I have both Mass Effect games and Assassin's Creed that I haven't been able to play owing to serious keyboard-play issues ( Read more... )

Hee, everyone I know in the gaming community who hadn't already done so is playing Mass Effect at the moment, myself included. I guess the BioWare effect* is working ( ... )

I gave up on the controller and am actually doing better now that I've got a bit more of the hang of the keyboard/mouse controls. Now I just need to do little things like ... oh, I dunno, Google the locations of various explosives so that Eden Prime doesn't blow up WITH ME ON IT WTF. And you're doing way better than me - I'm an hour and a half in, died twice and gaaaaaaah.

Honestly, I don't know anything about the romances or anything. A bit like when I started Dragon Age, I want to be surprised. I wonder if there's ninjamancing in this thing?

...Well, I think I'll get off Eden Prime first, then worry about the rest of it.

Also, the Geth are arseholes. I'M JUST SAYING.

Oh, I've died a BUNCH of times, including several on Eden Prime. And I totally had to look up a walkthrough video to find the explosives after I got blown up for the nth time. I think I'll have to do that a lot for quests; I'm also consulting the Mass Effect Wiki a LOT for the walkthrough, side quests info, weapons, etc.

It's awesome that you don't! I kinda wish I didn't, it unfolds more organically that way I think.

I HATE THEM. Y THEY KEEP KILLING ME SO MUCH.

Oh, I'll do all the Googling and try all the romances eventually. Just ... it's a Bioware games tradition. The first time I played Dragon Age, it wasn't even my copy, and I knew nothiiiiiiiing. DA2, I somehow managed to miss most of the spoilers (I was only just barely peeking at the fandom by then) and ... well, let's just say that romancing Anders WITHOUT KNOWING is the penultimate kick in the metaphoricals. The ultimate kick in the metaphoricals? ALL THAT REMAINS. WITH NO SPOILERS. OGODSMYHEART.

So, long story short, I'm only Googling for the minor things that I have to (for instance, a map of that f'ing train platform so I can plan my route and maybe not get blown up), and relying on talking to everyone who stands still long enough for the rest. After that, I'll study. *g*

Luck to you, my Sheptastic comrade! *brofist*
