This video is in Dutch, but it doesn't really matter--watch it anyway. This is actual footage of the South Korean parliament earlier today:
I still think Canada's parliament is pretty bad in terms of the lack of civility, but I suppose it could be worse.

It's interesting that the people who aren't actively grabbing and shoving aren't intervening very actively either -- the body language looks like trying to dissuade a drunk friend in a bar without getting anyone any angrier.

The news report talks about this happening "again" and said that the South Korean parliament has been well-known for this sort of behaviour "for years." Ack.

The kinds of hockey games that have fighting, like NHL and Major Junior, have something that looks a bit like this -- once two players are fighting or almost-fighting, the rest of them sort of pair off and clutch and shove with an opponent, and nobody intervenes (because if they intervene even as a "peacemaker" there's an extra penalty). I'm sure there's an etiquette to it, but I usually look away because I have issues about spectators tolerating it.

Interesting analogy with hockey fighting. I guess I'm bothered by hockey fighting, but more weirded out when it's elected freaking officials.

Best I can find about it now, though I've also heard that at one point each party tried to beat the other to the chamber to assume control and each brought their own gavels to try to gain some legitimacy.
