I know just what you mean about being a main character in your head and an extra in RL. Narrating my life in third person works for me, lol, and it's especially weird/awesome when you accidentally do it automatically. ^^ Just try it for an hour or two - it makes you feel ridiculous, but also kinda cool. ^^
