I have spoken to many of the people at my school and in my welding class and at various social events. People refuse to accept oil is coming to an end. They refuse to change their driving habits or give up their cars for efficient ones. They like the luxury or the "security" feeling of the sports car or SUV or Monster Truck. Could you tell us what you're doing to prepare? I tend to cycle between denial - information gathering - terror/overwhelm - denial and am getting nowhere.

Prepare? Hmm. That's hard to do for something which has a time scale of decades before noticeable recovery. Onset has been the last couple years. We'll probably have more plateaus. You may even convince yourself that its all going away, that we're past it. But fuel will just keep getting more scarce as the years go by until you can't recall or think of a place you can get some. That's what I think will happen. The rich are good at hoarding, after all ( ... )

Intentionally find a job that is very close to where you live.

Then, doesn't matter MPG of the car/bus/train/motorcycle.

I intentionally took a job that is only six miles from where I live, for example.

Those people that lived in the heyday of the Cheap Energy Age, commuting an hour or more from far suburbs to the city and back, are suffering the most. Hopefully they can realize and either move or find a job close to home before eveyone does it anyway, making housing near places of employment start to shoot up in price.
