Anyone else who just totally failed last week at articulating premiere love? My thoughts were a mess that I could not explain properly. I'm blaming it on gitty premiere haze. Thinking alittle clearer this week, now haze has lifted ( ... )

Wow...cool summing up! Still lots of questions and gaps in the back stories.

Still some great bro!moments. These boys fall in to step so easily now - separations seem to be the norm and they just know how to be together again. I loved those shots of them side by side in the auction room. The way they reaction to various things. The Js have perfected these characters.

I am desperate to know what's happened to Sam. We're getting some great Dean backstory. Can't wait for Sam's.

I wonder if Thor's hammer will actually be a THING and not just an excuse to have Sam's flying around so beautifully...;)

Haha, um, summaries according to Shannon, which includes many a pipe dreams! Still sooo many questions.

I have mucho mucho thoughts on Sam from the premiere, so I was actually glad this one was more Dean-centric character wise. But I love how they're using Kevin's character to the fullest as a reminder of Sam of past seasons and what he's grown past now. And Lauren Tom was just AWESOME.

The broments were more small-scale, blink and you miss it, but they have their own flavor I always like. Last ep I remember when Crowley appeared and approached Dean, Sam moved closer to Dean, flanked behind him. This ep, there's a shot where Crowley approaches them, and Sam takes a step forward and over to stand in front of Dean. They really do react around each other and their circumstances. Very neat. And I just love the shot above, said so much about the moment, that it wasn't just a reused plot device.

I think....Sam's is next week? I kinda remember Ackles directing ep had Sam flashbacks in it, from summer spoilers?

I wonder if Thor's hammer ( ... )

I like it that the brothers splashed Mrs. Tran with holy water at the same time, and what, Sam can smell demons again?!

I don't know, but I think Mrs. Tran was playing catatonic so as to take Kevin away with him. I don't see how otherwise they'd be able to disappear so neatly.

I totally burst out laughing at that, breaking up the mother son touching reunion. (Although, let's be honest here, if someone did that during Dean and John's reunion in 1.16, they both would have ended up with a bust eye.)

Oooo, good idea! I didn't think about that, though I was kinda confused how Kevin had gotten her out of there so quickly. I just assumed more time had passed then they showed. But you might be onto something there. I was all sorts of confused what Crowley was supposed to have done to her (and why the red smoke, Crowley?!), not to mention, does he own her soul contract now? Did he collect right away or is there a time set? Kinda confusing. There's alot of questions juggling in the air right now.

There is definitely more questions than answers right now. I mean, what's up with Sam reciting exorcism text backwards?! He shouldn't be able to do that if he really quit the past year.

Mrs. Tran is such a likeable dragon lady; she didn't kiss Crowley, and Plutus (I can't decide if he is dressed after the fashion of Russian mob or Jersey Shore mafia) died before he could collect, so I guess her soul is safe-ish? She is cunning, I think, Kevin got that personality trait from somewhere.

The parallel between purgatory interrogation and interrogating room interrogation is done really neat, I cannot say this version of Dean is likeable, but he surely is fascinating.

Haha, I was wondering that too, I'd go with Russian mob! So question is, if whoever owns the contract dies, does that mean the contract doesn't exist anymore? Or is it passed on? It seems too easy if it's just gone. That's why I thought it would still transfer to King of Hell. IDK, it's weird they didn't make that more clear.

As a vidder, I was ENTHRALLED by the editing. Sure communicated the psychology of the whole thing way better than simple flashbacks while keeping them fresh. I wouldn't mind them continuing to use stuff like that throughout the season!

Usually in Dabb and Laughlin episodes I worry about Dean, this time it was Sam that bothered me but I'm hoping there is a reason for it rather than it being lack of skill in the writing. But he seems subdued and faded - apart from his brief badass weilding of Mjolnir! Surely they wouldn't leave Thor's hammer behind????

Much though I would love to see more Mjolnir wielding from Sam, I don't think it would be smart of him to bring it along. Would its value as a weapon really outweigh the fact that it's a highly desirable artifact that a lot of extremely powerful beings are eager to get? I think it would probably cause more problems than it would solve.

Mmm good point. Wonder if they still have access to one of Bobby's or John's safe lock ups.... Surely they couldn't just leave it lying around for any Tom, Harry or Dick remnant to pick up!

I was thinking that about all those things that the auctioneers left behind besides just Mjolnir, surely they were worth a lot of money, or were dangerous and needing locking up. But then they'd have to protect or defend them and they're really not up for that right now with everything else going on.

Good point about all the small broments -- they really do fall back into sync so easily, after their repeated separations and coming-back-togethers over the years. I love the small gestures of protectiveness, the way they worry about each other, and how much they seem to be *thinking* about the other all the time -- whether they're agreeing or disagreeing, they're very much aware of how the other is thinking and reacting. And that feels *good*.

I'm loving Dean's PTSD and the flashbacks, and hoping we start gaining more understanding of where Sam's head is at soon. I think next week might bring a bit of progress on that, and it seems to focus on the brothers' relationship, so fingers crossed!

Mmmm, ALL of this. The simple bit of how their circles revolve back around each other. It's this weird Winchester dance they do, weaving in and out of each other, both in the narrative and onscreen. It's kinda fascinating to watch. :D

The Dean stuff is a long time coming but I'm really crossing fingers that they really play it out fully. I've been hoping for a fullout Dean breakdown since S5 and not up for seeing them sideswipe it again. I could say the same on the Sam front and his "human" story. There's got to be more in Sam's head besides a girl and a dog, and there's EONS of space to do it in.

Eeee! Still happy with how this season is going, especially the Sam-and-Dean stuff.

I could post, like, a million words analyzing their relationship so far this season, but instead I just want to mention one bro-moment from this week that killed me. It's the one where they're sitting down for the start of the auction. Sam claims the end seat and waves Dean in to the middle seat, to Dean's obvious annoyance. And then when Dean leaves to scope out of the place and comes back, he smacks Sam on the shoulder and gestures him to move over, which Sam does reluctantly. It's such a great little brother moment, them fighting over the end seat, and I adore it so much. You know Dean always won those fights as a kid.

Requisite gifs!

Sorry I never got back to this earlier this week. I was kneedeep in meta, haha. But TOTALLY, those two moments are a perfect example of the level of detail going on this season. I'd also take it one step further, that in addition to being a neat bro moment it also is emblematic of their relationship issues so far this season. And became more apparent in the ep this week. Sam says things have changed and Dean wants to default to that bigbro/littlebro pattern. Overanalyze, who, me? No way! XD
