The sun was standing to change seats again: it was gently shifting the light of dawn further and further from Summer's bed. These were the days where she was late to rise, so close to the end of her reign. The plants of the earth groaned, knowing full well what would follow. Oh, this was gorgeous -- it had a beautifully mythic feeling. I like the characterization of Autumn not being cruel, but cautionary.

I had personifications of seasons a few years ago, and Autumn was always the quiet little sister who smiled small but cared the most. :]

Really lovely view of the seasons, and very true! I am interested in seeing Winter and Spring as well.

Thank you! They're kind of similiar, as brothers. They like to nose around in people's lives for better or ill, but are generally rather jovial. Winter gets depressed real easy, though.

Ooh, personified seasons! :) I loved reading this: soft and gentle, but with a little bit of foreboding. I especially liked how you used the "get ready, get ready--everybody must prepare" and the descriptions of Summer and Autumn!
(Also, "they lifted their heads and spread themselves wide in thanksgiving as she passed" made me smile for the "thanksgiving" part.)
